One of the things Mike enjoys most, besides taking photographs, is taking people along with him to some of his favorite locations. Sharing the experiences he loves with others is very fulfilling. For 2013, Mike will open up three of his photo safari tours to fellow wildlife enthusiasts and photographers and have up to six participants join him on his travels. First trip will travel to India in search of the Bengal Tigers, Indian Rhinos and Elephants, Leopards, birds and other exotic animals while the second trip will take us to Kenya and Tanzania. This classic African safari will take place in various national parks and concentrate on photographing the Big Five - Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Rhinos and Cape Buffalos. The third trip will be to Patagonia, Argentina in search of Southern Right Whales, Dolphins, Penguins, and many seabirds.

There will be no cost to accompany him on his tours. Participants will pay their own way and if they choose to do so, they are welcome to use the travel providers Mike is utilizing to facilitate his trips. Please contact him if you would like to join Mike on these adventures and share some of his and your travel tales and experience in photographing wildlife. You can subscribe to Mike on Facebook , Twitter and his Blog to follow his travels.

I N D I A -- April 2013

India is one of the most interesting countries Mike has visited in all his years of traveling. It is a land of controlled chaos, teaming with sights and sounds, plus a profusion of cultures and races. The country is also rich in wildlife, with hundreds of species of birds, plus endangered Bengal Tigers, Leopards, Asiatic Lions, Rhinos, Elephants, Bears and Gaurs. This wildlife safari trip will last 15 days and Mike plans to search for all the above animals. Mid Spring is a good time to go wildlife watching in India because the weather will be getting hotter and the animals usually congregate around water holes, thereby maximizing sightings.

The majestic Bengal Tiger is one of the most evocative animals to witness and photograph. India is fast becoming an industrialized nation and the countryside and wildlife habitat are rapidly giving way to rampant development. Tigers and other wildlife are forced to compete for space with dense human populations, face unrelenting pressure from poaching, retaliatory killings and habitat loss across their range. India is a far away destination, especially for those who reside in The Americas but it is such an amazingly diverse country that stimulates the traveler's imagination and curiosity with its rich heritage and legacies. KENYA & TANZANIA -- August 2013

Africa is a continent of breathtakingly beautiful sceneries, majestic wildlife and unique cultures. This 16 day safari tour will take us to multiple national reserves in Kenya and Tanzania for many game drives. Samburu National Reserve is a good place to capture images of Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, Cheetahs, Nile crocodiles and more. There are also over 300 species of birds to marvel and photograph for the ornithologist in some of us.

Lake Nakuru National Park's greatest attraction is the lake’s thousands of Pink Flamingos. Other wildlife to be found are Waterbucks, Giraffes, Impalas and Hyenas. We will go on game drives in Serengeti National Park, Maasai Mara National Reserve, Ngorongoro Crater, Amboseli National Park, Lake Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park. In between game drives, we will drop in on the local Samburu and Maasai villages to learn about these tribes' culture and traditions. Visits are also planned for the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a Giraffe center, wildlife conservancy and a Chimpanzee sanctuary. Africa is another far away continent, especially for those who reside in The Americas but it is truly a fascinating region of the world and this will be a great trip for those who want to concentrate on wildlife photography, with a bit of culture immersion mixed in.

ARGENTINA -- October 2013

Patagonia is a region located at the southern end of South America, territory shared by Argentina and Chile, boasting some of the most dramatic landscapes on Planet Earth. We will be traveling to the Argentine portion of Patagonia to observe the Southern Right Whales in their breeding and calving grounds. Our journey will take us into the breathtaking animal world of the Patagonian coast.

In addition to Whales, Dolphins, Sea lions, Elephant seals and all the animals of the Pampas, we should encounter Magellanic Penguins, Southern Rockhopper Penguins, Red Legged Cormorants, Albatrosses and many other sea birds of the Argentinian Atlantic coast. Our tour continues southwards, on to Ria Deseado, following Charles Darwin’s footprints. The young naturalist set foot here on December 23, 1833 for the first of several visits while he was serving as a naturalist on the HMS Beagle. In this submerged estuary of the Ria Deseado, he found a remarkable biodiversity and we hope to do the same.
